Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Brahmas got their first win of the season Sunday afternoon, as they defeated the Tulsa Oilers 3-1.
Texas got out to an early lead behind first period goals from Jordan Kary and Mark Ehl. For Ehl, it was his second score of the season.
The Oilers struck back in the second period as Ryan Cramer snuck a wrister by Texas goalie Mark Guggenberger.
The Brahmas cushioned their lead with just over 11 minutes to play in the third period with a goal from T.J. Fox off of a beautiful pass from Jordan Kary.
Mark Guggenberger made his first start in net for the Brahmas and did not disappoint. The 22-year-old Richfield, MN native stopped 25 of the 26 shots he faced to solidify his first CHL victory. Ian Keserich made 30 saves for the Oilers, but allowed three goals as the Brahmas finally found a way to beat the Oilers in their third meeting so far this season.
After letting a 2-1 lead slip away the night before, the Brahmas finished Sunday's game with strong defense, allowing only four shots in the final period and shutting down the Oilers on their powerplays (0-4), which has been a strong point for Tulsa thus far this season (5-18 coming into today's game).
The Brahmas move to 1-3 on the season, as they get ready for a road trip to Rio Grande Valley and Laredo next weekend. The Brahmas are back home at the NYTEX Sports Centre next on Tues, Nov. 8th at 7:00 pm to take on the Missouri Mavericks.
