Brahmas Come up Short in Shootout

After a split at the NYTEX Sports Centre over the weekend the Lone Star Brahmas made the trek to Wichita Falls to face the Wildcats in the rubber game of their three game series.

Wichita Falls broke the ice at 4:54 of the first when Jonathan Lazarus put back a rebound of a Nakita Litviak shot. They logged their second just 2:18 later after Jake Townsend kept in a clearing attempt at the far point and slid it down to Collin Staub in the right circle. Staub found Austin Beaulieu all alone at the left hash mark for a wrister off of Jake Kupsky's glove and in.

Alexey Solovyev got Lone Star on the board with 2:55 to go in the first on a slapshot from the point after taking a pass from Hogan Davidson who stole the puck along the far halfwall. Storm Wahlrab pulled the Brahmas even at 19:10 on the power play when redirected a Solovyev blast from the point over Austin Shaw's left pad.

With less than a minute gone in the second Kupsky came out of the net to stop a ring around but Tommy Apap got to the puck first and centered it to Beaulieu for a one timer stick side. Time of the goal was 0:41 and it ended up being the only scoring in the middle frame.

With 9:21 remaining in the third the Brahmas had an excellent scoring opportunity they had the puck cycling deep and Oskar Andren found Ludvig Larsson in the right wing circle for a one timer off the post.

Lone Star got it knotted up again with a strong play at the point by Cody Wickline to keep in a clearing attempt and he slid it down the wall to Roman Uchyn at the halfwall. Uchyn turned the puck back out front to AJ Vanderbeck in the high slot and he peppered it over Shaw at 14:25.

After a scoreless overtime period the Brahmas went to their first shootout of the season. Nick Farmer scored as the second shooter for followed by Jake Townsend.

Sebastian Vidmar got through for the Brahmas in the fourth round, but Lone Star was unable to beat Shaw again and lost 4 - 3.
