Brahmas Blow by Cutthroats 4-1

DENVER, Colorado - The Brahmas (4-5-2) defeated the Denver Cutthroats 4-1 Saturday night to earn their second road win in as many days.
Phil Fox powered the Brahmas early on, scoring two goals in the first 5:22 of the first period. Fox picked up a loose puck on the doorstep at the 2:58 mark and put it past Dencer netminder Kent Patterson to put Fort Worth ahead 1-0. Just two and a half minutes later, the second-year winger deflected an Erik Spady slapshot by Patterson to extend the Brahmas' lead to 2-0. Fox leads the Brahmas this season with six goals and 11 points.
The Cutthroats cut the Fort Worth lead in half 6:47 into the second period when Gabe Gauthier snuck a wrister past Brahmas goaltender Brad Fogal on a Denver powerplay. The score would be the only goal Fogal would let in Saturday.
Fort Worth added insurance in the third period, as Sy Nutkevitch notched a powerplay goal at 7:27 of the final frame to extend the Brahmas lead to 3-1. T.J. Fox finished off the Cutthroats with an empty-net score with just over two minutes to play in regulation. It was the first goal of the season for both Nutkevitch and Fox.
Fogal (4-3-1) earned the victory with his second consecutive strong performance between the posts for the Brahmas. The Sharon, Ontario native made 22 saves on 23 shots. Patterson stopped 29 of 33 shots, falling to 2-4-0 on the season.
The Brahmas picked up their second straight road win after dropping their first four games away from home to begin the season. Fort Worth makes a stop in Tulsa to face off against the Oilers Tuesday, November 20 at 7:05pm before heading back to the NYTEX Sports Centre.
The Brahmas are at home next when they host the Quad City Mallards Wednesday, November 21 at 7:00pm at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
