Brazil's largest beer company launches initiative with Strikers co-owner to revitalize fields in Brazil, provide undiscovered soccer talent opportunity to land contract with Fort Lauderdale Strikers
Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (Thursday, December 17, 2015) - In collaboration with club co-owner Ronaldo and Brazil's largest beer company Brahma, the Fort Lauderdale Strikers today announced their involvement with Projeto Campinho.
Projeto Campinho is an initiative by Brahma to restore and revitalize 300 soccer fields in Brazil by 2018. So far, 30 soccer fields have been remodeled in 2015.
In addition to Projeto Campinho, Brahma and Ronaldo introduced another project, O Fenômeno Dos Campinhos (The Phenomenon of the Little Pitch). The project gives an opportunity to an amatuer soccer player, aged 25 or older, to earn a six-month contract with the Strikers.
The winner of the competition will be selected from a final pool of 30 players. One player from each field revitalized by Brahma will comprise the final 30-man roster to compete in São Paulo on Friday (December 18) at 10 a.m. local time. The 30 players will be divided into two teams, to be coached by FIFA World Cup Champions Cafú, EdmÃlson, Ricardo Rocha, and Zetti.
Ronaldo will personally select the winner of O Fenômeno Dos Campinhos.
The Strikers and Brahma plan to expand the Projeto Campinho campaign to soccer pitches in South Florida.
