P.E.I. Rocket News Release
On November 12 and 13 the second annual Brad Richards Rockethon took place in 13 minor hockey associations across Prince Edward Island. The participating minor hockey associations canvassed their local communities for sponsors to participate in the Skate-a-thons. This event co-sponsored by Brad Richards, the P.E.I. Rocket and Scotiabank raised over $79,000 for minor hockey on P.E.I.
"The Brad Richards Rockethon is a great chance for local Minor Hockey Associations to raise funds, to continue to improve their Minor Hockey Programs and introduce the P.E.I. Rocket Players throughout the Island communities. The support and commitment from Brad Richards and the PEI Rocket Hockey Club to Minor Hockey on P.E.I. is greatly appreciated," said John Clements, Chairman, P.E.I. Minor Hockey Council.
"Scotiabank is pleased once again to participate in the Brad Richards Rockethon. Scotiabank staff across the Island have volunteered to help out with the Rockethon and contribute to its success. Scotiabank will make a $15,000 donation to be distributed between the minor hockey associations involved. Thanks to Brad Richards and the P.E.I. Rocket Hockey Club for allowing Scotiabank to be a major sponsor for the event," commented Jamie Cudmore of Scotiabank.
"This is an excellent fundraiser for minor hockey. I'm glad that I can be apart of something that will benefit today's youth hockey players across the island. Please support your local players when they are out canvassing the community. Good Luck to all," said Brad Richards.
"In 2 years this fundraiser has raised $133,621 for minor hockey on P.E.I. The P.E.I. Rocket takes pride in supporting minor hockey across Prince Edward Island. This fundraiser would not be possible without the help of Brad Richards, Scotiabank and the PEIHA." Added P.E.I. Rocket President and General Manager Serge Savard Jr.
