Richmond Roosters News Release
Robert S. Powell, Regional President of US Bank, recently presented a check in the amount of $3,300 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County. Bruce Daggy, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne County accepted the check at McBride Stadium. Representing the Richmond Roosters was Deanna Beaman, General Manager. The money is the result of a season long commitment by US Bank to donate $50.00 for each home run hit by a Richmond Rooster player at McBride Stadium during the 2004 season.
Mr. Powell noted, "we are always looking for ways to support the local community. By bringing the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County, the Roosters and US Bank together this creates a win-win situation for everyone". This is the 9th year that US Bank has contributed to the Clubs through the home run derby. This makes a total contribution of $17,250 over the past nine years.
With more games played in 2004 and 66 home runs, the $3,300 check is the largest contribution made by US Bank in the past nine years. US Bank has been a supporter of the Roosters since their inaugural season in 1995 and the bank has long been an avid supporter of local sports on all levels in the Richmond and Wayne County area.
Roosters GM Deanna Beaman praised U.S. Bank's community involvement. "It is with great pride that the Richmond Roosters are able to partner with community leaders like Mr. Powell and U.S. Bank to raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wayne County. Certainly the winners are the kids and the community. The Roosters would like to thank U.S. Bank and The Boys & Girls Clubs for letting us be a partner to raise money for the kids, and making each home run at McBride this year a little more exciting!"
