New Britain, Conn. - The Somerset Patriots (28-21, 62-49) carried a strong pitching performance and a big third inning to a 6-1 win over the New Britain Bees (23-25, 56-55) Friday night at New Britain Stadium.

The Patriots quickly grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an Endy Chavez sac fly to right field. New Britain responded, however, in the next half inning on a two-out solo home run from Deibinson Romero (16) to even the score at 1-1.

Somerset regained the lead in the third on a two-out rally. Chavez put the Patriots back in front on an RBI single before Jayce Boyd (3) launched a three-run home run to left field to provide a 5-1 lead.

Mike Fransoso topped off the scoring with a two-out RBI single in the top of the eighth to provide the 6-1 final.

Stephen Perakslis (2-0) was terrific, striking out eight batters against one walk over six innings of one-run baseball. Devin Burke (3-2) yielded

The Patriots and the Bees continue their three-game series Saturday night. Right-handed pitcher Vince Molesky (5-2, 2.77 ERA) takes the mound for Somerset against New Britain southpaw Greg Nappo (0-0, 0.00 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

The 2018 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford continues on the road until Friday, September 7th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for an 7:05 p.m. game against the York Revolution.
