New York Boulders News Release

(Ramapo, NY) All nine Boulders starters had at least one hit while Jon Smith blasted two homers as Rockland beat Quebec 18-12.

After the Capitales jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, Rockland stormed back in the latter half of the inning. Back-to-back doubles from Ryan Mollica and Keith Brachold made the score 2-1. Two batters later, Phillip Cuadrado produced his first hit as Boulder, blasting a two-run homer to make the tally 3-2.

After Quebec added another in the top of the third, the Boulders bats exploded, scoring at least two runs in the next five consecutive innings. Rockland put up two runs in the third and fourth including a two run long ball from Mollica. The Boulders blew the game open in the bottom of the fifth, scoring six runs on dingers from Smith and Brachold to make the score 13-6.

After Rockland added another three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh, Quebec battled back with a five-run eighth to make the score 18-12. That would be all though as Adrian Martin entered in the top of the ninth to shut the door.

The Boulders travel to Newark for a four game series with the Bears starting tomorrow at 7 p.m. Rockland returns home on July 3rd for a battle against the New Jersey Jackals with a 3D fireworks presentation after the game.
