Boucher Jackals Third AHL Call Up This Year

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today goaltender Nick Boucher has been called-up by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.

Boucher, who has a 3.60 goals against average and a 0.901 save percentage through 22 games played, post his first shutout of the season on January 15th, a 1-0 blanking of the Flint Generals. A native of Cobble Hill, British Columbia, Boucher has posted a record of (5-12-4) this season, but has a (3-2-1) record in his last 6 starts and both losses were by just one goal. This is not Boucher's first taste of hockey in the AHL. After being drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 9th round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the Jackals goalie played 6 games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in 2003-4, his rookie season, posting a 2.05 GAA and a 0.923 save percentage.

"We are very happy for yet another Jackal being recognized by the AHL," said Jackals Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Perry Florio. "Nick has played extremely well as of late and deserves this opportunity. I promised our guys in training camp that hard work and perseverance would pay off, and now Nick makes the third player in the past few weeks to be called up."

Boucher joined the 4th place Sound Tigers on the road today as Bridgeport (21-20-2-2, 46 pts.) will take on Boucher's former team, the East Division leader Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (32-6-3-1, 68 pts.) tonight at 7:05 p.m. Listen live at www.soundtigers.com or watch live on the B2 Networks beginning at 6:45 p.m.

The Jackals hit the road for two games in Danbury Friday and Saturday. Elmira finishes Week 15 at home Sunday afternoon at the First Arena with a 4:05 pm face off with former Jackal David Herring and the Motor City Mechanics.
