Boston Frenzy hits ESPN2
August 2, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Cape Cod Frenzy News Release
Boston, MA. Dan Savage, GM of the ABA's Boston Frenzy professional basketball team, scheduled to begin play in November, today announced that the ABA and the team will gain some national exposure tonight (Tue, Aug 3) when he and his brother Patrick will be featured in a segment of ESPN2's original series, Streetball-The And1 Mix Tape Tour by Mountain Dew Code Red at 1230EST.
The episode will include And1 Tour's stop in Providence RI where the Savage brothers will be shown signing the Frenzy's first three players, And1 tour players John Humphrey and Dennis Chism, and local stand-out Marques Houtman.
John Humphrey, a 6'1" guard who played for Middle Tennessee State is known on the Tour for his electrifying dunks and scoring ability. Dennis Chism played college ball in Georgia before traveling with the Tour in hopes of winning a contract for next year. Chism's charisma and athleticism have made him a Tour favorite. Humphrey and Chism both played for Coach Joe Bryan'ts ABA Las Vegas Rattlers last season.
"John and Dennis are two vital components of our team," said Dan Savage. Not only are they streetball icons, but they are skilled basketball players who have a drive to win at every level. Their athleticism and explosiveness will make it hard for our fans to stay in their seats, that is certain."
The third to sign, Marques Houtman, is a local standout who played for the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth where he received all conference honors in his Jr and Sr years. Houtman, a 6'4" guard played professionally in Portugal last year where he led the team in scoring.
"We are extremely excited about our first round of signings," added Patrick Savage. "I have a feeling that our excitement will continue based on the next round of players that we are currently speaking with. The word on the ABA is out in Massachusetts and we can't wait to share our excitement with the fans."
