Portland, Oregon â July 30, 2004. The Portland Reign has announced the hiring of its third Assistant Coach, Jules Jones, Jr.
Jones Jr. will join The Portland Reign along with Coach Phil Garver and Coach Kumbeno Memory for the 2004-2005 American Basketball Association season.
Jones Jr. is currently in charge of scouting, recruiting, on-court fundamentals and player development for Portland Community College's men's basketball team.
From 1993 until 1996 Jones Jr. played overseas for teams in Italy, Spain and Greece for the International Basketball League.
Jones Jr.'s coaching skill and knowledge contributed to the success of the Clem Haskins Basketball Camp in Minneapolis, Minnesota from 1992 until 1995. His primary responsibility included the management of the "Elite Camp" which consisted of top players from around the country. Known for his professionalism and equanimity, he was recruited in 1998 and 1999 for basketball camps in Minneapolis where he worked with boys and girls ages 10 to 18 and was responsible for skill development within an NBA environment.
