Boston Celtics recall Dwayne Jones from Florida Flame

BOSTON - The Boston Celtics announced today that the club has recalled Dwayne Jones from the Florida Flame of the NBA Development League (D-League).

Jones, acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves along with Wally Szczerbiak, Michael Olowokandi and a future first round draft choice, on January 26, 2006 averaged 8.9 points, 11.7 boards (which leads the D-League in both offensive and defensive rebounding) and 2.0 blocks in 30.4 minutes per game in 26 games with the Flame. Jones assigned to the Flame on November 4, 2005 by the Timberwolves.

Jones appeared in 26 D-League games for the Flame, making 25 starts. The 6-11, rookie center from St. Joseph's (PA) University averaged 8.9 points per game with the Flame and currently leads the NBA Development League in total blocks (52), total rebounds (304), total offensive rebounds (118), rebounding average (11.7), and offensive rebounding average (4.5). Jones also ranks second in the D-League in blocked shots average (2.0) and is tied for third in double-doubles with nine overall.

The 6-11, 250-pound center ranked 5th in the nation in rebounding (11.6) and blocks (3.0), while averaging 10.1 points per game for Saint Joseph's in 2004-05.
