GLORY ROAD TO TULSA, AUSTIN: Former Texas Western star David Lattin will make appearances at both Tulsa and Austin home games this weekend. Lattin, one of the members of the storied squad for whom the Disney movie "Glory Road" is based, will be at Expo Square Pavilion for the 66ers home game against Austin on Friday and then at the Austin Convention Center for the Toros home game against Roanoke on Saturday.
THEY SAID IT: "You kind of feel like it's a demotion, but it's not. I'd tell that person to keep your head up and take advantage of it. This is a chance for you to get better. And hopefully he'll run with it." Trail Blazers rookie Martell Webster told The Columbian on what he would tell future teammates who are assigned to the D-League.
HODGE TO TOROS: The Denver Nuggets assigned guard Julius Hodge to the Austin Toros on Tuesday, making him the 21st NBA player to be assigned to the D-League this year. He is the first NBA player assigned to the Toros. Hodge will make his first appearance as a Toro at Tulsa on Friday.
WELCOME BACK MEL: After completing a 10-day contract with the San Antonio Spurs, guard Melvin Sanders has returned to Fayetteville. In five games with the Patriots before earning his GATORADE Call-Up, Sanders averaged 28.2 minutes, 20.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
GUARD PLAY: Florida guards Bracey Wright and Andre Barrett combined to score 60 points (30 each), grab 11 rebounds and dish out 12 assists in a win over Arkansas on Tuesday.
ACTION JACKSON: With James Lang battling a nagging injury the last two games, Arkansas' Brian Jackson has stepped up his play, averaging 20.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in Lang's absence.
