HANOVER, Mass. (April 6, 2015) - The Boston Breakers announced today the club has signed midfielder Stephanie Verdoia. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 22-year-old from Salt Lake City, Utah was selected in January by the Breakers in the fourth round of the 2015 NWSL College Draft.

"She's a very good, young talent and is super composed. She's wise beyond her years," Boston Breakers head coach Tom Durkin said. "She shows a lot of promise and poise, and she had a really good start. She really picked it up toward the tail end of the Florida trip."

Verdoia played in all four preseason games for the Breakers and led the team with three assists. Two of her assists came in a 5-0 win March 28 against the Jamaican Women's National Team in Winter Springs, Fla.

"I've always wanted to play professional soccer, but I didn't know if I'd ever be able to because there are so many good players in this league and in this country. I think the Breakers have a really talented team, so being given the opportunity to play with these girls and be a part of this organization is mind-blowing," Verdoia said. "I'm really grateful for everyone I've met along the way that has helped me get here. I'm really excited to be here and to get better and learn."

In February, Verdoia made her debut in the U.S. Women's National Team system, playing for the U.S. U-23 squad in La Manga, Spain. She saw action in two of the three games in the tournament, and she registered one assist.

A two-time Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year at Seattle University, Verdoia finished as the career leader in goals (51) and points (132). She was also the Redhawks' single-season leader in goals scored in 2014 (22), which also placed her second in the nation in Division 1 college soccer.

Verdoia earned NSCAA Third Team All-America and First Team Scholar All-America honors in 2014. She also won the Senior CLASS Award.
