Bossier City, Lou. - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz saw their franchise record four-game win streak come to an end Saturday night at the hands of the Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings 54-46 in front of 2,107 fans at the CenturyTel Center. Bossier held the Dawgz to seven points in the second and third quarter combined to gain control of the contest.
The Yard Dawgz would jump out to a 19-9 lead in the first quarter. They would open the scoring with a 33-yard pass from Craig Strickland to Al Hunt giving the Dawgz an early 6-0 lead. They would get their next score on a two-yard run by Eric Butler increasing their lead to 13-3. After the Battlewings would get their first touchdown of the game, Jarrail Jackson would return the ensuing kickoff 55-yards for the score making it 19-9 at the end of the first quarter.
The Battlewings shut down the Dawgz in the second and third quarter. Bossier would gain the lead after scoring the next 24 consecutive points to give them a 33-19 lead with 8:01 left in the third quarter. The Dawgz would get into the end zone again on a nine-yard run by B.J. Barre pulling the Dawgz back to within seven points at 33-26.
The Battlewings would get another touchdown at the close of the third quarter putting them up 40-26. The Dawgz would find themselves down 54-32 with 5:19 left in the game, before they made a comeback on the Battlewings. The Dawgz would get the final two scores of the night, the first on a flea-flicker from B.J. Barre to Carlos Johnson and the last on a 17-yard pass from Strickland to Barre making the final score 54-46.
Dawgz offensive specialist Jarrail Jackson was held to three receptions for 29 yards and no touchdowns, but he would add eight kickoff returns for 201 yards and one touchdown.
The Dawgz will return home to the Ford Center on Friday, June 24th to face the Midwest Division leading Memphis Xplorers.
