Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA (March 14, 2008)- The Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings will square off against each other tomorrow at noon in an intra-squad scrimmage at Independence Stadium. For some of the BattleWing players, today's heat provided an equally formidable opponent. OL/DL Zach Condo (6'4, 270 lb.) noticed the warmer weather in today's early practice session, "I'm not used to this type of weather in Ohio, I hope it cools off some this afternoon." OL/DL Dannie Snyder added, "It was definitely the hottest practice so far with the humidity, but it's great for conditioning and it always seems to raise the intensity level."
WR/LB Manwell Talbert (6'2, 210 lb.) has been the star of offensive coordinator Jon Lyle's group thus far in camp. Said Lyles "Manny has been burning it up from the first day of camp and hasn't slowed down, he's really setting the pace for the rest of the guys."
Talbert attributes his fast start to hard work in the off-season and being injury free, "Coming in healthy was huge," Talbert said. "It has allowed me to be more relaxed and more comfortable in Coach Lyle's offense."
Today will mark the first round of roster cuts for the BattleWings. Per af2 rules, rosters must be down to 30 players. Coach Jon Norris said, "I love coaching, but this is one facet of the game I do not enjoy."
