Tulsa Talons News Release

Tulsa, OK - The Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings had their ArenaCup X dreams dashed by the Tulsa Talons Saturday night at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as the Talons defeated the Wings' 59-34. The Talons got off to a fast start as QB Justin Allgood connected with WR Jeff Hughley on a 48 yard touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage. The BattleWings tied the game at 7-7 just a few minutes later when QB Andrico Hines hooked up with P.J. Berry on a 15 yard scoring strike. After Jeff Hughley's second receiving touchdown of the night, Wings' FB Jason Schule ended the first quarter with a 3 yard rushing touchdown to tie the game at 14-14.

The second quarter was a back and forth affair, much like the first quarter. Talons' WR Charlese Franklin gave the lead back to the Talons with a 17 yard touchdown reception, but the BattleWings answered right back with a P.J. Berry rushing touchdown. WR Buchie Ibeh gave the Wings' their first lead of the game when he hauled in a 22 yard touchdown pass to make the score 27-24 with 3:52 remaining in the first half. Talons' K Luke Phillips tied the game (27-27) with a 21 yard field goal as time expired in the first half.

Wings' WR Buchie Ibeh started the second half scoring with a 27 yard touchdown reception to give the Wings' a 34-27 lead early in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately for the BattleWings, that would be the final time they would reach the endzone in this game. Charlese Franklin nabbed two receiving touchdowns in the 3rd quarter to give the Talons a 39-34 lead going into the 4th quarter.

The BattleWings were unable to move the ball effectively in the final quarter of the game, as dropped balls, penalties, and the ejection of WR Buchie Ibeh doomed their comeback efforts. The Talons took advantage of the Wings' woes and scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to make a tight game seem like a blowout.

The Talons will move on to the National Conference Championship game against the winner of the Boise Burn-Spokane Shock match-up next week.
