
Booras Nets Game-Winner For PrairieThunder

Jon Booras scored his sixth game-winning goal of the season as the third shooter in a three-man shootout to give the Bloomington PrairieThunder a 5-4 International Hockey League victory over the Kalamazoo Wings before 2,553 people Sunday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.
John Nail put the PrairieThunder ahead to start the game with 15:51 remaining in the first period off assists from Brett Holmberg and Booras. But the lead didn't last long as Kalamazoo's Justin Cross tied the game 80 seconds later on a power play goal.
The Wings then took a 2-1 lead 35 seconds later on Lucas Drake's goal. But Bloomington's Brent Clarke forged a 2-2 deadlock on a goal with assists to Neil Clark and newcomer Shaun Fisher, who was claimed on waivers this week, with 4:38 left in the first period.
Both teams would another goal in the first period for a 3-all deadlock. Rod Aldoff had Bloomington's goal off assists from Adam Edinger and Booras with 1:07 remaining before Nick Bootland scored for the Wings with 24 seconds to go.
Casey Handrahan gave Bloomington a 4-3 advantage on a power play goal with 27 remaining in the second period off assists from Don Parsons and Leo Thomas. Kalamazoo sent the game into overtime when Tyler Willis scored a power play goal with 4:35 left in the third period.
Bloomington goalie Derek Dolson stopped 31 of 34 shots and all three shootout attempts to pick up his 12th victory. Former PrairieThunder goalie Jeff Reynaert suffered his first loss against his old teammates in five games. Bloomington owned a 39-35 advantage in shots on goal.
The victory moved the PrairieThunder's record to 30-37-3-4 with 67 points. Bloomington closes the season with back-to-back games against Muskegon. The teams meet in Muskegon on Friday at 6:30 p.m. before battling in Bloomington at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
