
Bombers Use Big First Inning to Top Generals 6-2

The Brazos Valley Bombers scored six runs on seven hits in the first inning on Saturday night and then held on for a 6-2 win over the Victoria Generals in Bryan. The loss snaps the Generals four game winning streak.
Generals starting pitcher J.P. Clifton struggled in the first inning as the Bombers racked up hits and runs. Two of the runs were unearned due to a Generals error.
The Generals did not have trouble getting men on base in the game as they outhit the Bombers 10-8. But the Generals stranded 8 base runners in the game.
The Generals finally got on the board in the top of the seventh inning. Drew Featherston doubled to score Frank Cloutier. Featherston came around to score later in the inning on a Bombers error to make it 6-2.
Brandon Easterling picked up the win for the Bombers as he scattered nine hits in seven innings with seven strikeouts.
With the loss, the Generals fall to 27-27 overall and 10-14 in the second-half. The Bombers improve to 42-13 on the season and 16-9 in the second-half.
The two teams will meet again on Sunday night for game two of the series at 7:05pm at AMB Ballpark in Bryan.
