Dayton Bombers News Release
Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers announced today the signing of veteran defenseman Kelly Perrault. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Perrault, a Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta native and current Dayton resident, has played 497 professional games in his career, dating back to his professional debut in 1996 with the IHL's Chicago Wolves. He's totaled 76 goals and 265 assists for 341 points and 671 PIM in 449 regular season contests, and an additional 29 points (6g,23a) in 48 post-season games.
"Kelly's a welcome addition to the team," said head coach Bill McDonald. "He's still got a competitive edge, can put up good offensive numbers and will help our younger guys improve as players."
Most recently the 35-year-old played for the UHL's Fort Wayne Komets in 2003-04 where he had a career-high 89 points (25g,64a). He won a Colonial Cup championship with the Komets in 2003 and with the Quad City Mallards in 2001.
"It's exciting to be back involved with pro hockey after this layoff," Perrault said. "I've been fortunate to play as long as I have. I've won two championships; it all comes down to winning. Hopefully I can bring some of that spirit to the Bombers."
Perrault played Division I hockey at Bowling Green State University from 1993-1997, accumulating 45 goals and 103 assists in 147 games. He was twice named to All-CCHA teams and was an NCAA All-American in 1994-95.
The Bombers are on the road this weekend at Trenton on Friday at 7:30 and Saturday at 7:00, then Sunday at Reading at 1:05. Fans can tune into WONE 980AM for broadcasts of Friday and Sunday's games.
