Bombers Co-Head Coach Makes Move to NHL

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers announced today that Derek Clancey, co-head coach of the 2007 American Conference champions, has accepted a scouting position with the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League.

"We congratulate Derek [Clancey] on his position with the Pittsburgh Penguins," said Bombers General Manager Don MacAdam. "Clancey did a tremendous job coaching this past season, and was a huge part of our success."

Under Clancey and MacAdam the Bombers went 37-26-2-7 (83 pts.) in the 2006-2007 regular season, finishing first in the North Division. The team advanced to 2007 Kelly Cup Playoffs where they were 12-10, capturing both the North Division and American Conference championships.

"The Bombers organization wishes Derek much success in his career change from coach to scout," MacAdam said.

The Bombers' Opening Night Extravaganza is Saturday, October 20, against the rival Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. at the Ervin J. Nutter Center. Group tickets for Opening Night are on sale now by calling 775-4747.
