Richmond Kickers News Release
TAMPA, Fla. - USL League One announced on Monday that Richmond Kickers' forward Jonathan Bolanos, defender Jalen Crisler, forward Owayne Gordon and forward Emiliano Terzaghi were named to the league's team of the week for week 14 following their performances in the Kickers' victories at FC Tucson and against North Carolina FC. The quartet's team of the week-worthy performances are presented by Legends Soccer Co.
Terzaghi earns his third placement in the league's weekly honors after previously earning recognition in weeks 1 and 2. Bolanos earns his third weekly honor in four weeks after earning player of the week honors in week 11 and team of the week honors in week 12. Crisler earns his third placement on the team of the week. Gordon makes his debut on the league's team of the week.
Terzaghi scored book-end goals and assisted the game-winning goal in the team's 4-1 victory over North Carolina FC in front of a record crowd of 4,702 fans. After trailing 0-1 entering the second half, Terzaghi quickly notched the team's equalizer which sparked an explosion of offense. He went on to score the fourth and final goal of the night which was assisted by Gordon.
Terzaghi was named the Keiter CPA Man of the Match for his performance against NCFC as his sixth and seventh goals of the league season moved him within one goal of the golden boot leader.
"We played two games in one week and the team made a great effort, working hard to get those victories," Terzaghi said. "It was a great job by all, and I'm very happy to be able to help the team score."
Bolanos continued his ascension as one of the most in-form players in USL League One. The forward scored the game-winning goal in both the 1-0 win over Tucson and the 4-1 win over NCFC. Both goals also came from attempts from outside of the box.
Bolano's volleyed strike from Tucson is nominated for goal of the week.
"To be named to the team of the week is always special and wouldn't be possible without the rest of the guys," Bolanos said. "These past couple of performances have really been a representation of the team culture we have instilled from the beginning of the season.
"As a team, we still have a lot to improve and I believe we still have a lot of good soccer left in us to show. I'm looking forward to putting in better team performances and getting more wins in this second half of the season."
Gordon provided a massive spark for the Kickers' attack as a halftime substitute Saturday night. The forward scored the third goal of the night before assisting Terzaghi on the final goal of the night. The assist proved to be one of the great highlights of the night as he won possession in NCFC's half before appearing to move even faster with the ball at his feet as he raced towards goal. With the goalkeeper closing in, Gordon laid the ball off to a streaking Terzaghi who buried the attempt.
"It's a great feeling to know that I helped my team to a big win," Gordon said. "Making the team of the week feels awesome."
Crisler was tasked with adjusting to a new centerback partnership with his usual partner Nathan Aune out with a minor knock. The defender didn't miss a beat as Richmond earned its first clean sheet since June 11 - moving the team within one clean sheet of a three-way tie for the league lead.
Crisler was a warrior as he finished the week with all 180 minutes played inside across the two matches in four days.
"It feels great to contribute to two historic results for the club," Crisler said. "The results showcase the growth in our entire team. Starting off the week with a clean sheet on the road shows the fight and what this team is capable of. To finish the week at City Stadium with nearly 5,000 fans shows what this city is all about. It was a great second half and finish to a very important week for our club."
The Kickers are on the road for their next match as they travel to Charlotte Independence on Friday, July 8 for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The official watch party for the match will be at Home Team Grill.
