Washington Wild Things News Release
WASHINGTON, PA â It took the Florence Freedom 12 tries before earning their first win over Washington in 2004. The Freedom took the first game of Saturday's twinbill, 7-2, and needed just one strike to sweep the team with the Frontier League's best record.
However, Washington's Matt Bok delivered a two out, three-run home run in the top of the seventh to give the Wild Things a 5-3 lead. B.J. Borsa escaped trouble and closed out the Freedom in the bottom of the inning to notch his league-leading 18th save of the season, helping the Wild Things to a 5-4 come-from-behind victory. Brendon Davis (3-2) earned the victory for the Wild Things.
The Wild Things (51-28) began the day with a six-game lead over second-place teams Evansville and Kalamazoo. That lead momentarily shrunk to 5 ½ games after Florence topped the Wild Things in the opener. Florence broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning with a pair of RBI from Justin Raschulte. Raschulte finished game one with three RBI. Washington's Chad Kinyon hit a solo home run.
The Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, continue their road trip with a trip to Richmond on Monday. After a three-game set with the Roosters, the Wild Things return to Falconi Field for the first time since August 9, to take on the Evansville Otters.
