Arizona Sting News Release
OTTAWA, ON --- The Canadian Lacrosse Association announced today that Arizona Sting Head Coach/General Manager Bob Hamley will be a member of Team Canada's coaching staff at the 2007 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
"This is a tremendous honor," said Hamley. "The opportunity to represent your country at an event of this magnitude is pretty rare so it's definitely something that I'll be sure to make the most of."
Team Canada's coaching staff will also include Colorado Mammoth bench boss Gary Gait and Ed Comeau, Head Coach of the Rochester Knighthawks. Colorado's GM/President Steve Govett will be serving as the team's General Manager with Jeff Dowling (Asst. GM - New York Titans) and Paul Day (GM/Head Coach - Edmonton Rush) serving as his assistants.
Hamley, a native of Guelph, Ontario, became the first man to win both NLL Coach and GM of the year honors in the same year in 2005 when he led Arizona to a West Division Championship.
The World Indoor Lacrosse Championships first took place in 2003, with Canada beating the Iroquois Lacrosse National Team in the Gold Medal match at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario. In 2007, eight teams will be looking to win the prestigious title: Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic, the Iroquois Nationals, Scotland, the United States, and two yet-to-be-determined teams.
