July 13, 2012 - West Coast League (WCL)
Bend Elks News Release
The Bellingham Bells had a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning when Bo Walter from College of the San Mateo sent the 8th pitch of his at bat over the left field wall for a 2 out, 3 run home run for the victory.
Kyle Doyle had a shaky first inning for the Elks, walking two batters in the first inning, but had a solid start otherwise, pitching 6 and 1/3 innings in picking up the win. Doyle gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, on 3 hits while striking out 3.
Offensively for the Elks, Bo had the big game offensively, scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 for the Bend Elks, Will Sparks went 3-4 with a pair of doubles and drove in a run, and Grant Newton, Joey Mathews, and Darian Ramage each added a pair of hits for the Elks, who improved to 15-14 in WCL play.
The Elks will be back in action Friday for Game 2 of the 3 game series between the Elks and the Bells, first pitch at 6:35 p.m.
