Butler BlueSox News Release
Butler, PA - June 19, 2012 - The Butler BlueSox will be in town for four games this Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday that is expected to be the largest home stand so far this summer.
Thursday is Henninger and Robinson Breast Cancer Awareness Night, when the team will wear pink socks and donations for the American Cancer Society will be collected. The first 100 women to enter the ballpark will receive a special edition BlueSox shirt and profit from all pink shirts sold will be donated to the ACS. Back to the Good Stuff will be on hand for the second time this season to provide live pre-game entertainment.
Babe the BlueSox Ox will arrive at Thursday's game at 6:15pm in surprise fashion.
"We had skydivers bring Babe a game ball last season, so we wanted him to have a special entry for a game this year," said BlueSox general manager Matt Cunningham. "It will be sure to get the fans excited."
The excitement will continue on Friday night with NexTier Bank Fireworks Night. The largest crowd of the summer is expected for the game, which will start at a special start time of 7:05pm. Butler will take on the Chillicothe Paints, who stand just one game ahead of Butler in the standings. Tickets are selling quickly. Ben Valasek & The Growlers will play live before the game.
The division-leading West Virginia Miners come to town on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be Peoples TWP Water Bottle Giveaway Night, when the first 1000 fans will receive a free water bottle as they enter the park.
The weekend series will conclude on Sunday on YMCA Night, when the BlueSox will have a chance to remain neck in neck with the Miners for the division lead.
"Our play at Pullman has been spectacular this summer so far, the players are feeding off the energy of the crowd and the people in the stands have been going home happy," said Cunningham. "We expect this to be the best weekend of the summer so far and hope that as many people as possible get to experience the fun."
Thursday's special edition shirt will be given to the first 100 women to enter the ballpark.
Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday will begin at 6:35pm. First pitch on Friday will be at 7:05pm. Gates will open at 5:30pm all days. Tickets to all games start at $5 and are available online at ButlerBlueSox.net or by calling 724.256.9994.
Groups of 20 or more receive $1 off each ticket.
