
Blues Promote Rivermen Training Staff

ST. LOUIS (June 5, 2009) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that the club has promoted Peoria Rivermen trainers Mike Hannegan to Assistant Athletic Trainer and Joel Farnsworth as Assistant Equipment Manager for the Blues.
Farnsworth has been with the Blues organization as the equipment manager of the Blues' AHL affiliates in Peoria and Worcester since the 2002-03 season. He has been in hockey nearly 15 years which began in 1996 as the equipment manager of the University of Vermont men's ice hockey team. He held that position for five seasons then joined the Hartford Wolfpack of the AHL as the team's assistant equipment manager for the 2001-02 campaign. Prior to the 2002-03 season, Farnsworth accepted the role of head equipment manager with the Worcester IceCats, marking the beginning of his current tenure within the Blues system.
Farnsworth claims membership in the Society of Professional Hockey Equipment Managers (SPHEM). Born and raised in Colchester, Vt., he attended the University of Vermont and graduated with honors in May 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biomechanical engineering. He and his wife Angie are expecting their first child.
Hannegan worked his ninth season in professional hockey this past season with the Rivermen. Prior to Peoria, Hannegan previously spent three seasons with the Las Vegas Wranglers, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Calgary Flames. While serving with the Wranglers, Hannegan was selected to participate in the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game. Hannegan served as the athletic trainer for the Richmond Renegades of the ECHL during the 2002-03 season and the Macon Whoopee, which competed in the ECHL and Central Hockey League (CHL), from 2000-2002.
The Santa Ana, Calif. native, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training/Exercise Physiology from Chapman University and a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from California University of Pennsylvania. Hannegan and his wife, Kelly, have a three-year-old son, Aiden.
