Blues lose to Alexandria 3-3; Series Tied at One Apiece

The Alexandria Blizzard score with 25 seconds left in the game to defeat the Springfield Jr. Blues 3-2. The series, now tied at one game apiece, returns to the Nelson Center Friaday Night(7:30pm) and Saturday(7 PM).

Matt Globke started the scoring with a power play goal at 6:56 of the first period with an assist from Jared Rickord. The Blizzard came back and scored twice to gain a 2-1 lead which last until well into the 3rd period.

In the 3rd, Casey Dion tied the score with assists from Matt Globke and Darren Rowe. With Alex Paine out with a penalty for checking from behind, The blizzard scored a power-play goal with 25 seconds left in the game.

Springfield outshot Alexandria 13 -7 in the 3rd period and 33 - 25 fro the game, but could not capitalize on several key plays.

"Our guys didn't play bad, but they didn't play their best either", said assistant coach Andy Maher. "We had opportunities to win the game on several plays but just didn't get the job done. Next weekend will be better".

If a game five is needed, it will be a 10 hour bus ride back to Alexandria on Sunday. Neither team is looking forward to that possibility.
