ST. LOUIS (May 14, 2010) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has signed forward Anthony Nigro (AN-thuh-nee, NIGH-groh).
Nigro, 20, has spent the majority of the past two seasons with the Ottawa 67's of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) after joining the team during the 2008-09 season via trade from the Guelph Storm. In 2009-10, the Woodbridge, Ontario native played in 61 games and led the 67's with 46 assists while netting 16 goals for a total 62 points including 49 penalty minutes. In the post-season, the 6-foot, 187-pound forward made 12 appearances collecting six goals and seven assists for 13 points and 12 penalty minutes, tying for the team lead in points and assists.
In total, the left-shooting left-winger's regular season OHL career with both the Guelph Storm and Ottawa 67's has yielded 251 games and 196 points including 74 goals, 122 assists and 199 penalty minutes. His OHL career post-season numbers include 33 games played, 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points and 25 penalty minutes. Nigro was the Blues' sixth round selection (155th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
