Blues' Head Coach Wyss Announces Coaching Staff For 2015 Season

IRVINE, Calif. (February 23, 2015) - The Blues family continues to expand as Head Coach Oliver Wyss announced today the new Orange County Blues FC coaching staff for the 2015 USL season. This year's coaching staff includes Braeden Cloutier, Sacha van Der Most van Spijk, Claudio Trabattoni, Mohammad Mohammadi and Technical Adviser Barry Venison. The new coaching staff is diverse, and every member has immense experience.

New Assistant Coach Braeden Cloutier began his professional career with German side Hamburg SV and the HSV amateur team. The Wichita, Kan. native played five seasons with Major League Soccer teams including: New York MetroStars, San Jose Clash, and New England Revolution. He holds a USSF A License and has won several National Cup, Regional and National championships while coaching for West Coast FC. Cloutier was a part of the Orange County Blue Star as a player/coach from 2005-2006.

Sacha van Der Most van Spijk joins as Assistant Coach and brings with him 13 years of playing experience, which includes Quick Den Haag in the Netherlands. The Dutch native holds a U. S. Soccer Federation A License, Dutch TC-III license, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport Psychology and Coaching from California State University Long Beach. As the Director of Youth Development for Chivas USA, he managed the club's youth development program and coached the U18, U16, and U14 teams. Van Der Most van Spijk has worked closely with the youth soccer community in Southern California due to his time as Regional Manager for US Club Soccer from 2011 to 2013.

Claudio Trabattoni joins the fold as the team's Strength and Conditioning Coach with over 20 years of experience working in sports and personal training. The Argentine received his Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education from Romero Brest Institute and Masters in Exercise Physiology from Universidad Nacional de San MartÃ-n in Argentina. His works in fitness includes serving as the Fitness Coach for the Irvine Valley College Men's Soccer Program, and Trainer and Consultant for coaches at Pacific Soccer Club. With Chivas USA, Trabattoni worked as a Fitness Coach for their Youth Development Teams and as Assistant Fitness Coach for the First Team. During his time with the Rojiblancos, he worked alongside Jose Luis Sanchez Sola "Chelis", Sacha van der Most van Spijk and Jose Luis "Guero" Real. The Argentine is a Spanish USSF E License Instructor under the Cal South Coaching Education department.

Mohammad Mohammadi rejoins the Blues as a goalkeeper coach. Mohammadi played for the organization for two seasons before retiring during the 2014 USL campaign. His professional career spanned 15 years, beginning with Persepolis FC in the Persian Gulf Pro League, also known as Iran Pro League. Mohammadi made appearances for the Iranian national team and U23 national team and then joined the Blues in 2013. He is currently in the process of acquiring his USSF C License.

English Premier League veteran Barry Venison takes on the role of Technical Advisor. The Englishman adds valuable insight due to his time in the EPL and 16-year playing career. His professional career began with Sunderland at the age of 20, where he was the youngest captain to lead the team out onto the field at Wembley Stadium. Venison's record still stands today. During his six-year term with Liverpool, the team won the league in 1988 and 1990 and the FA Cup in 1989. He served as captain for Newcastle United and won the League Division 1 Title in 1993. In addition, Venison made appearances for Galatasaray, Southampton, and the English national team. At 33, he retired and became an expert analyst for the English television network, ITV.

Coach Wyss is excited about the contributions this staff will make: "This is a fantastic group of coaches; they comprehend how the game is played on the highest level and understand what is needed to be a top professional team. Together we will create a vision & structure that will take OC Blues FC to the next level and reach its fullest potential."

Coach Wyss and the Blues begin their 2015 USL campaign on March 28th at 7 pm at UC Irvine's Anteater Stadium.
