Orange County SC News Release
IRVINE, Calif. (March 3, 2015) - Orange County Blues FC are excited to welcome back Mehrshad Momeni and Seung Ju Kim for the 2015 USL season.
Momeni, a 27-year-old midfielder, began his professional career in 2007 with Iran Pro League team PAS Hamedan FC while the team was in Iran's first division. In 2009, the Persian player moved to Esteghlal FC, the Blues of Iran and one of Iran's top clubs. After two seasons with Esteghlal, Momeni joined the LA Blues in 2011 and notched three goals in 15 matches. After taking the 2012 season off, the Tehran native returned to the team and added four goals for the Blues in 2013. During the 2014 season he made 25 appearances and tallied two assists.
Kim is a young but talented midfielder who joined the Blues last season right after leaving South Korea and Bu Kyung High School. The 19-year-old had a stellar high school career, winning the Korean High School Championship three times. Kim scored his first professional goal on August 13, 2014 against the Charleston Battery, when he beat out several defenders to put a ball in past the Battery keeper. He appeared in 14 games and also obtained an assist. The Busan native received his first call up to the Korea Republic U-19 national team in 2014 for the Asian Football Confederation U-19 Championship.
"I want to build a team that is tough out on the pitch. Momeni and Kim are two players that will do whatever it takes to help our team win," commented Coach Oliver Wyss.
