Bluefish Swept in Doubleheader

Bridgeport, CT - The Bridgeport Bluefish were defeated by the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 10-5 in game one of Saturday's double header and were defeated by the Blue Crabs 8-2 in the nightcap at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard Saturday night.

Game one was back and forth until the ninth inning where Southern Maryland produced four more runs and taking the game by a score of 10-5. Ian Marshall (2-1) got the win by giving up five runs (three earned) in five and two thirds innings of work. Brian Barton (3-for-4, HR, 3B) provided the big blast in the ninth inning. In a one run ball game, Barton hit a slider off of Josh Schmidt that added an insurance run.

The loss went to Bluefish starter Mike Parisi (1-2). Parisi pitched well, completing six innings and striking out seven while allowing six hits and six runs (three earned). Luis Rodriguez (1-for-3, R, HR) hit his first home run of the season and newly added infielder Iggy Suarez (1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) had a two-run-double in his first at-bat with Bridgeport.

Game two saw Bluefish starter Ty'Relle Harris (1-1) pitch into the sixth inning. He finished the game giving up four hits with six strikeouts and four runs (three earned), but took the loss.

Jeff Stevens (2-0) for Southern Maryland got the win after he came in for Logan Williamson, who started the game. Stevens pitched two-and-one-third innings of no-hit baseball and struck out two batters.

Yusuf Carter (2-for-2, 2 R, 2 HR) was the loan run producer for Bridgeport. He took a couple of fastballs out of the ball park. One in the seventh inning and the other coming in the ninth. It makes him the first Bluefish this season with two home runs in one game.

The final game of this four game series will take place tomorrow. The first pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m. and will feature Bluefish starter Josh Butler (1-0) against Southern Maryland's Michael Ballard (0-0).
