
Bluefish hold off Newark, 2-1

Bridgeport, CTâ The Bridgeport Bluefish narrowly defeated the Newark Bears, 3-2, in front of 3,163 fans at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
Sparked by an RBI single by Asbel Ortiz the Bluefish broke the trend of scoreless innings in the bottom of the fifth, when both Will Pennyfeather and Eddie Lara scored for Bridgeport. Both runners reached base on back-to-back walks by Newark starter Willie Banks. Hector Kuilan also scored for the âFish to top off a three run inning.
The Bears broke their scoreless innings in the top of the eighth when both Danny Clyburn and Jose Olmeda scored for Newark to make the score 3-2. Danny Clyburn had reached base after being hit by a pitch.
The Bluefish continue their three game series against the Newark Bears on Friday with a 7:05 p.m. start. The Bluefish will be hosting fireworks after the game.
