Joe Piscopo to help Newark Bears celebrate Italian Heritage Night

NEWARK, NJ, July 1—Television, film and theater star Joe Piscopo will help the Newark Bears Professional Baseball Club celebrate Italian Heritage Night at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium on Saturday evening, July the 10th.

That evening the Bears will host the Somerset Patriots in a 6:05 PM Atlantic League contest and the first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a t-shirt courtesy of Ragu. There will be a variety of special events, music and contests taking place both before and during the game, including a Sloppy Joe eating contest refereed by Piscopo.

Known for his work on "Saturday Night Live", his various ad campaigns for Miller Lite Beer, Bally's Health Spas and Ragu and for his starring roles in films such as "Wise Guys" and "Johnny Dangerously", Piscopo is a New Jersey native who has also dedicated his time to various non-profit and charitable organizations.

Piscopo started his own foundation called "The Positive Impact Foundation" to create positive media for at risk youth in the New Jersey area, including the syndicated television show aimed at teens, "Positive Impact TV". The Positive Impact Foundation is currently working with The Enterasys Networks to supply a $1 million dollar in-kind grant to inner city schools for Internet and computer access.
