
Bluefish drop opener 6-5 in extras

The Bluefish battled for 10 innings against the Somerset Patriots, but a three run inning for Somerset in the tenth to put the Bluefish away in the Series opener 6-5.
Deivi Cruz and P.J. Rose both recorded singles off of David Elder with two outs in the first inning. Cruz scored on a passed ball to give the Bluefish an early lead.
Steve Hine singled with one out in the second inning and was later driven in by all-time Bluefish hits leader Angel Espada.
The Patriots got on the board for the first time in the fourth inning when Kevin Nicholson scored on a Larry Barnes double. Travis Anderson then knocked in Nicholson to tie the game at two.
Espada hit into a fielders choice with the bases loaded in the fourth inning to bring home Otanez, who walked earlier in the inning.
Porzio hit Barnes with a pitch to start the sixth inning and then gave up a hit to Lou Lucca. Barnes then scored on a shallow sac fly from George Sandel to tie the game at three.
Somerset had the bases loaded with one out in the 10th inning and Lou Lucca singled in the go ahead run. Sandel followed with a two-run single up the middle to put the Pats ahead 6-3.
Damian Rolls walked and Deivi Cruz singled to put two men on for the Bluefish in the bottom of the 10th inning. Rose the shot a sac fly out to left to score rolls and inch the Fish close 6-4. Willis Otanez then ripped a ground rule double to plate Cruz and make it a one-run ballgame. The Bluefish could not muster anymore runs with two outs in the bottom of the 10th and would go down in the series opener 6-5.
