Evansville BlueCats News Release
For the fourth time in the 2004 season, an Evansville Bluecat has been named the Atlantic Conference Player of the Week. In only his third NIFL start and first as a kick returner, former Florida Gator Matt Jackson had a spectacular performance against the Lexington Horsemen to earn week twelve Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Jackson was one of the few bright spots in the 69-28 loss to the Horsemen as he returned six kickoffs for a total of 127 yards. That total included a franchise record 54-yard touchdown early in the 2nd quarter that pulled the Bluecats to within 6 points of the lead. Jackson also contributed on defense with 3.5 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.
Jackson and the Bluecats (4-5) now head to the East Coast to face the Atlantic City Card Sharks (4-5) in New Jersey's Boardwalk Hall as they try to keep their playoff hopes alive. Catch all the play-by-play action on GOLD WYNG 95 (94.9 FM) this Saturday, June 5. Kickoff will be at 6:30 PM CDT with Dan Egierski and Mike Sander's pre-game show beginning at 6:00 PM CDT.
