Evansville BlueCats News Release

EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats (2-5) wrap up their second 3 game road trip of the season Saturday night when they travel to face the Fort Wayne Freedom (3-5) at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. In an unusual scheduling quirk, the BlueCats and Freedom did not face each other last season in 2005. The last meeting between these two teams came on May 1st, 2004 at Roberts Stadium, where the Evansville claimed a 71-68 victory over the Fort Wayne. Saturday's game between the BlueCats and Freedom can be heard live on ESPN Radio 94.9 in Evansville with Will Clark and Jimmie Ford on the call.

The Freedom lead the league in rushing so far this season, rushing for 724 yards and averaging over 90 yards per game on the ground. Despite their proficiency at running the ball, Fort Wayne enters this game in the middle of a five game losing streak after starting the season (3-0). The Freedom's success at running the ball can largely be credited to their UIF All-Star running back, Rocky Harvey. Harvey has missed the last 3 weeks due to an injury, but is expected to return this weekend. Despite only playing in 5 games, Harvey has rushed for 427 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2006. The BlueCats defense ranks 4th against the rush and 4th in total defense. The BlueCats defensive attack, lead up front by linemen Demoine Adams, Johnny Brown, Joel Stubblefield, and Bryant Berry, along with linebacker John Winchester, will look to contain the Freedom offense.

The BlueCats offense has been led by versatile running back, Dale Jennings. Two weeks ago, Jennings had his best performance so far this season rushing for 45 yards in the win over Peoria. He leads the team in rushing with 165 yards this season and ranks tied for 3rd in the league in scoring with 72 points and 12 touchdowns. In 2006, he's seen time at running back, wide receiver, kick returner, and at cornerback. Jennings and the rest of the BlueCats offense will be going up against a Fort Wayne defense that ranks 9th against the pass and 7th in total defense overall in the league.

The BlueCats will be playing their first game this season without wide receiver Sean Bennett, who left Evansville earlier this week to begin training camp with Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Kickoff on Saturday will be at 6:30pm (Evansville time) at War Memorial Coliseum. Tune in to ESPN Radio 94.9 to catch all the exciting indoor football action.

The Evansville BlueCats return home on next weekend on Saturday, May 27th, when they take on the Ohio Valley Greyhounds at Roberts Stadium. This game is sponsored by Expressway Dodge.
