Published on May 19, 2006 under United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release

Omaha, NE - The UIF will take the field this Saturday with all ten teams playing across the country. The defending champions, the Sioux Falls Storm will travel to Sioux City. Bloomington will travel to Omaha, Evansville heads to Ft. Wayne, the Peoria Rough Riders play in Ohio Valley and rounding out the weekend will be the Lexington Horsemen in Rock River.

BLOOMINGTON EXTREME (3-4), AT OMAHA BEEF (3-4) - This game marks the first of two meetings between the teams over the last eight weeks of the season. Both games will be extremely important in the race towards the playoffs. Bloomington scored their most points of the season last week as they put up 59 on Peoria. The Extreme run a very balanced offensive attack as five different players scored a touchdown last week. Bloomington is scoring 40.1 points per game, which ranks 4th in the UIF. Omaha dominated the first-half of last week's game in Sioux Falls only to fall 34-24. The Beef defense is allowing 37.3 points per game, which ranks 4th in the league. Omaha's defense has given up less than 35 points each of their last three games. The defensive backfield tandem of Clint Brown and Harold Clewis has been smothering opposing receivers lately and have contributed to the great defensive play. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:05 pm CST at the Omaha Civic Center, "Slaughter House."

EVANSVILLE BLUECATS (2-5), AT FT. WAYNE FREEDOM (3-5) - This is the first of two games these two will play in the final eight weeks of the season. Evansville was tied with the undefeated Lexington Horsemen at halftime of their meeting last week. Lexington dominated the second half to win 62-44. Evansville's offense is scoring 37.1 points per game as they are led by running back Dale Jennings. Jennings is tied for the league lead in rushing touchdowns with 9. Bluecats linebacker John Winchester leads the UIF in tackles with 56. Fort Wayne dropped it's fifth consecutive game last week and are still being stung by the loss of Rockey Harvey, who is still questionable for tomorrow's game. The Freedom defense has been keeping the team in games. They are led by Lewis Carter who has 46 tackles on the season. Offensively, Adrian Reese leads the UIF in all-purpose yards with 1277, as he leads the next closest player by over 400 yards. The game will take place at the War Memorial Stadium in Ft. Wayne, with a kick-off of 7:30 pm EST.

LEXINGTON HORSEMEN (7-0), AT ROCK RIVER RAPTORS (5-3) - Both of these teams are division leaders and have proven to be dominant forces in the UIF. The teams will play twice in three weeks as Rock River tries to move to the top two places in the UIF standings and earn a first-round playoff bye. For Lexington, the Raptors are the only team with a winning record that the Horsemen must face the rest of the season. Lexington wide receivers Chad Spencer and Harry Lewis have each scored 8 receiving touchdowns this season, which ranks them in a tie for 4th in the UIF. Quarterback Eddie Eviston runs this balanced attack with running back Derek Homer as another weapon. Homer has accounted for four rushing touchdowns while Eviston has accounted for six. The Raptors scored 24 unanswered points in the second-half after facing a 22-10 halftime deficit last weekend against the Freedom. Wide receivers Luke McArdle and Ade Adeyemo rank third and fourth, respectively, in the UIF in receptions. Game time is slated for 7:30 pm CST at the Metro Centre, "The Rock Pile."

PEORIA ROUGH RIDERS (0-7), AT OHIO VALLEY GREYHOUNDS (2-5) - This is the second of two meetings between Ohio Valley and Peoria during the 2006 season. Ohio Valley won the earlier meeting by a 60-53 score. The Rough Riders are led by wide receiver Phil Taylor Jr. who has caught 25 passes for 264 yards and leads the team in touchdowns with 7. On the defensive side of the ball, Blue Aldridge continues to lead the team with 32 tackles this season. Andrew Franklin leads the UIF in sacks with 5.5. Ohio Valley has cooled of lately as they have lost two games in a row. In the last meeting vs. Peoria, quarterback Matt Kohn was awarded UIF Offensive Player of the Week by throwing for 314 yards and had a hand in eight touchdowns on the night. For the season, Kohn is third in the UIF in passing yards with 1139. The Greyhound offense is averaging 38.1 points per game which ranks fifth in the league. Wide receiver, James Taylor, continues to lead the UIF in receptions with 47 as he has also scored 8 touchdowns on the season. Kick-off is at 7:30 pm EST at Wesbanco Arena in Wheeling, WV.

SIOUX FALLS STORM (8-0), AT SIOUX CITY BANDITS (4-4) - This game marks the second meeting this season between the West Division rivals and the first time since United Bowl I that the Storm have been back to Sioux City. Sioux Falls won the earlier battle 28-6 in Sioux Falls. The Storm recovered after a stuggish first-half to defeat Omaha last week. The comeback was fueled by quarterback Terrance Bryant who threw for four touchdowns and no interceptions in the victory. Defensively, Sioux Falls regained the top spot in the least points allowed rankings. The Storm defense is allowing just 25.6 per game. Sioux City's defense has been instrumental in their success as well. The Bandit's defense is allowing the second least amount of points in the UIF by giving up 28.0 per game. The Bandits newly signed quarterback, Troy Travis, had a great debut as he thew for three touchdowns and ran for two more last weekend against the Greyhounds. Sioux City finishes the season with a brutal schedule as they play Sioux Falls three times and Lexington once in their final seven games. The game will take place at the Tyson's Event Center/Gateway Arena at 7:05 pm CST.
