Bluecats Look to Rebound against NIFL Champs

The Evansville Bluecats suffered their first home loss of the season Saturday as the Show-Me Believers took away the victory, 41-30. The Believers took advantage of 2 costly interceptions and a muffed field-goal miss to keep the âCats from winning their 2nd straight game.
The Bluecats will look to bounce back from the tough loss when they return to Roberts Stadium this Saturday, April 24th for the 2nd game in a 3-game home stand against the 2-time defending NIFL Champion Ohio Valley Greyhounds. The game features 2 of the league's best running backs as the Bluecats' Michael Cosey (10th in the league in rushing with 145 yards in 3 games) will face-off against the Greyhounds' Rayshawn Askew (8th with 186 yards in 4 games).
The Greyhounds, who finished 2003 with an unblemished 17-0 record will look for their 25th straight victory and 37th in their last 38 games when they come to town to face the up and coming Bluecats. Despite the discrepancy in their records, the two teams have a lot of similarities. They are both toward the top of the NIFL in rushing offense (7th & 8th) and passing defense (2nd & 6th).
The Atlantic Conference showdown will be one that's won "in the trenches" as two of the league's toughest offensive and defensive lines will go up against each other in what should prove to be a very physical match-up. The Bluecats defensive line leads the league in sacks with 13 while the Greyhounds stand at 5th with 8. On the offensive side of the ball, Ohio Valley's "Big Uglies" lead the league in protecting the quarterback, giving up only 3 sacks while Evansville's "Big Fish" stand at 2nd, giving up only 5.
This week's game will feature Clearcrest Pines thunderstix on Lite 105.3 Night. The 1st 2,500 fans through the gates will receive thunderstix courtesy of Clearcrest Pines Golf & Banquet Center. Fans are encouraged to come early and go for "Tailgater of the Week" honors. Gates open at 6:00 PM with kickoff at 7:05 PM.
