
Blue Wahoos Snuff BayBears Comeback in Ninth

The Mobile BayBears dropped the first game of a five game set against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, falling 9-5 at Hank Aaron Stadium Tuesday night. Mobile trailed by just one run entering the top half of the ninth inning, but ultimately the Blue Wahoos prevailed. Pensacola scored five runs over the first five innings to take a 5-0 lead, but the BayBears scored twice in the fifth and added three more runs in the eighth. Donald Lutz gave the Blue Wahoos a three-run lead after hitting a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning.
Josh Fellhauer's RBI ground out put Pensacola up 1-0 in the third inning. Lutz and Brodie Greene led off the fourth inning with back-to-back hits and Tucker Barnhart scored Lutz with an RBI double. Billy Hamilton gave Pensacola a 3-0 lead on a sacrifice fly and Fellhauer drove in his second run of the night with a RBI double. Lutz went 4-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI.
Matt Davidson and Ryan Strieby each hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the Blue Wahoos lead to three. Chris Owings hit a two-out triple in the eighth inning and scored on a RBI single from Davidson. Brent Clevlen capped the Mobile scoring in the eighth inning with a two-run triple. BayBears RHP Derek Eitel was credited with the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits in six innings while RHP Chad Rogers recorded his third win of the season for the Blue Wahoos. Rogers allowed two runs on four hits in six innings on the mound.
