Blue Sox Face Brigade in Play-In Game

Valley Blue Sox News Release
Holyoke, MA - The Blue Sox had a chance to take third place in the Western Division, but an offensive meltdown cost them in a 3-0 loss to the Keene Swamp Bats that will force them into a one-game play-in tomorrow at home for the final playoff spot in the division.
Keene jumped on Holyoke's starter, scoring right off the bat in the first; they added a second run in the fourth and a third in the seventh for the 3-0 score. Keene's starter, Brian Hunter, tossed five shutout innings with five strikeouts to just three hits, walking none, and closer James Connell threw a perfect ninth for the save.
Holyoke will play today against the Saratoga Brigade in a one-game playoff at Mackenzie Stadium at 6:30 PM, with the gates opening at 5:30 PM.
The Blue Sox split the season series against the Brigade, with both teams winning twice on the road. The Brigade are expected to start Jonah Philley, who pitched six innings of three hit, three run ball in a 13-7 win at Holyoke earlier this year, while the Blue Sox will start Henry Van Zant, who has a 2-0 record with one run on six hits in 16 innings of work against Saratoga.
