Blue Rocks to host competitive eating challenge

Wilmington, DE --- The Wilmington Blue Rocks, in conjunction with official concessionaire Centerplate, will host their inaugural Competitive Eating Contest this season at Frawley Stadium. Five qualifying rounds spread throughout the season and a final championship round comprise this season's contest, known as the Hot Dog Eating Challenge. The Hot Dog Champion will take home a grand prize package that includes $100 cash, a $50 Best Buy gift card (courtesy of Bridgford Foods), a $50 Dick's Sporting Goods gift card, use of a luxury suite for a Blue Rocks game in 2008, and more.

The five qualifying rounds of the Hot Dog Eating Challenge will take place prior to the Blue Rocks home games on April 28, May 19, June 23, July 28, and August 11. The winner from each round receives four tickets to a future Blue Rocks game, a chance to throw out a ceremonial first pitch, and the all-important trip to the championship round which takes place prior to the season's final game on Monday, September 3.

The registration fee for this event is $25. Registration must be completed 24 hours prior to each 10-person contest. Each contestant will receive a gift bag along with one complimentary ticket to that night's game and a ticket to the game on September 3. Check-in for each round is 5:00 p.m. on the third base side of the stadium, in front of the General Admission section.

The Blue Rocks 2007 Carolina League campaign opens in Myrtle Beach with a 7:05 p.m. affair against the Pelicans on Thursday, April 5. The team returns to Wilmington for its home opener on Friday, April 13, as the Salem Avalanche invade Frawley Stadium for a 7:05 p.m. tilt. Single-game tickets and ticket packages are on sale now.
