Marion Blue Racers News Release
LaMonte Coleman, CEO of Run 42 Sports Group, LLC signed a contract with Veterans Memorial Coliseum to bring his new team, the Marion Blue Racers, to Marion, Ohio. The team will play its inaugural season in the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL).
In 2010, Coleman was the General Manager of the Marion Mayhem Indoor Football Team, which ceased operations midway through May 2010. "After speaking to CIFL Commissioner Jeff Spitaleri, he endorsed me to bring a team into the league." Coleman is no stranger to the indoor game. After his Super Bowl XXX run with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1995, he played in the Arena Football League and the National Indoor Football League. Notably, Coleman was the Offensive Most Valuable Player in the National Indoor Football League while playing for the Johnstown J-Dogs in 2001 where he amassed over 1,000 rushing yards and 38 touchdowns. "I am excited to bring a new brand of professional football in which the community of Marion will always be at the forefront. It is imperative that people in my organization must be visible in the community." Coleman was a record setting running back at Slippery Rock University, but finished his Sports Leadership degree at The Ohio State University in 2008.
