Marion, Ohio- The Marion Blue Racers are pleased to announce that former Kentucky Driller Owner and Head Coach, Rick Kranz, has been hired as the new Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel for the Marion Blue Racers for the 2015 season. Kranz previously held the position as head coach and President of the Kentucky Drillers during the 2012-13 seasons. Kranz was the general manager for the Eastern Kentucky Drillers in its 2011 inaugural season that helped lead the team to its first league championship game losing to the Saginaw Sting. "I'm super proud and excited to be a Blue Racer", New Blue Racer Head Coach announced earlier today. "This is a great fit and great situation for myself. The Blue Racers, the community of Marion, the sponsors, fans and players are winners! I'm looking to fit right in and continue the winning tradition of the Blue Racers. I'm very excited to meet all of my new family members in Marion!" Kranz beat out many candidates to earn the job, as last year's CIFL Coach of the Year and Marion Blue Racer Owner, LaMonte Coleman has since decided to focus on business operations in Marion going forward. "I am thrilled to have Rick on board," stated team Owner LaMonte Coleman. "Rick is more than capable of guiding this team to a championship. The cupboard isn't bare, but we both agree that we want players who care for the community just as much as picking up their paycheck. As a former owner and general manager, Rick understands the importance of business operations and bolstering relationships with the community and business partners. As the Blue Racers new head coach and full time resident here in the community, he will not accept anything less than a championship this year." The Blue Racers were 2014 South Division Champions but lost in the title game 26-38 to the Erie Explosion who is now playing in the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL). The Blue Racers (Blueracersfootball.com) are celebrating its fifth consecutive season in Marion, Ohio and will be playing its 2015 games in the X-League. The X-League (Xleague football.com) is in its second season and is one of the fastest growing Indoor leagues in the country.
