
BLUE JACKETS RECALL TYLER MOTTE, MONSTERS SIGN TERRY BROADHURST TO PTO

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Monsters, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced Monday that Columbus recalled LW Tyler Motte and the Monsters signed LW Terry Broadhurst, older brother of Monsters C Alex Broadhurst, to a 25-game professional tryout (PTO) contract.
A 5'9", 188 lb., left-handed native of St. Clair, MI, Motte, 22, currently leads the Monsters in scoring this season with 5-2-7 to his credit, along with four penalty minutes and a +2 rating, in seven appearances. In his first career NHL action last season for the Chicago Blackhawks, Motte posted 4-3-7 with 14 penalty minutes and a +2 rating in 33 appearances and in parts of three AHL seasons from 2016-18, Motte, a fourth-round pick (121st overall) by Chicago in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, supplied 17-11-28 with 26 penalty minutes and a -13 rating in 55 appearances for the Rockford IceHogs and the Monsters.
In three collegiate seasons at the University of Michigan from 2013-16, Motte logged 50-55-105 with 72 penalty minutes and a +38 rating in 107 appearances and added 26-19-45 with 38 penalty minutes and a +9 rating in 62 USHL appearances for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
A 5'11", 161 lb., undrafted, left-handed native of Orland Park, IL, Broadhurst, 28, supplied 29-56-85 with 42 penalty minutes and a +8 rating in 170 AHL appearances for Rockford and the Chicago Wolves spanning parts of four seasons from 2012-15. In 36 appearances for the ECHL's Toledo Walleye during the 2012-13 season, Broadhurst logged 12-19-31 with 14 penalty minutes and a +13 rating. In 2015-16, Broadhurst posted 6-18-14 with ten penalty minutes and a -2 rating in 48 SHL appearances for Skellefte=E5 AIK and Brynäs IF, and last season in Finland's Liiga, Broadhurst contributed 14-22-36 with ten penalty minutes and a -11 rating in 53 appearances for KooKoo.
Prior to his professional career, Broadhurst notched 40-50-90 with 30 penalty minutes and a +7 rating in 110 NCAA appearances for the University of Nebraska-Omaha spanning three seasons from 2009-12 and served as the Mavericks' captain during the 2011-12 campaign. In 116 USHL appearances for the Sioux Falls Stampede during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, Broadhurst chipped in 34-47-81 with 42 penalty minutes and a +3 rating.
