
Blue Crabs Win Big Heading into the All-Star Break

Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release
(Waldorf, MD. July 5th 2015)--- Southern Maryland came into the ballgame having won five of their last six games, and put on an offensive display to defeat the Sugar Land Skeeters by the 10-3 final.
Southern Maryland fell down early when the Skeeters scored two runs in the top of the third. Travis Scott with two outs doubled, followed by a Chris Wallace double, allowing Travis to score. The next hitter Johan Limonta doubled to score Wallace to make it 2-0.
After scoring a run in the bottom of the fourth, Southern Maryland sent ten men to the plate in the bottom of the sixth. Zach Wilson began the rally with a single that was then followed by a Gustavo Molina single. After a Jamar Walton strikeout, Craig Maddox hit a sharp grounder through the hole on the right side to score Wilson to tie the game at 2-2. Casey Frawley then banged a single to right center field to score Molina, followed by an Anthony Vega single that scored Maddox to make it 4-2. Fred Lewis lashed a single to left field to score Frawley, and Jake Opitz hit a two run triple to put the icing on the cake and bring the score to 6-2.
In the bottom of the seventh, Southern Maryland added two more runs. With one out Jamar Walton banged a single to right field. Craig Maddox then singled once again followed by a Casey Frawley double to to make it 7-2. Two batters later, Fred Lewis singled to score Frawley to make it 9-3. Southern Maryland added one more run in the bottom of the eighth, and went on to win by the final of 10-3.
The combination of Walton, Maddox, Frawley, and Vega went a combined 9-18 with six runs driven in. Chien-Ming Wang picked up the victory, going seven innings, and retiring the final 13 hitters that he faced to pick up his third win of the season.
Southern Maryland heads into the All-Star break with 42 wins as compared to 28 losses, and winning six of their last seven. They will resume action, starting with a seven game road trip beginning next Friday, and the 10th against Sugar Land.
