GASTONIA, NC- The Columbia Blowfish (26-30) jumped out to an early 5 run lead in the top of the 1st and they never looked back as they beat the Gastonia Grizzles (32-22) 12-3, in the final game of the 2014 Regular Season.
Chase Shelton (Charleston Southern) lead the offense going 5-6 with 5 doubles, 4 RBIs, and 3 runs scored.
The Columbia Blowfish scored 5 runs in the opening frame, they would go on to score at least one run in every inning except the 5th and 6th innings.
The Gastonia Grizzles scored 1 run in the 3rd and 2 runs in the 9th.
Michael Bell (Georgia) went 3-4 with a Home run and, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored.
Denis Buckley (Charleston Southern) pitched 7 strong innings, allowing 1 run, on 5 hits, while striking out 7.
The Columbia Blowfish fall short of making the playoffs for the first time since the 2011 season despite going 17-11 in the second half of the season.
