Bloomington Hockey Voice Returns

The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, will have a familiar local hockey voice calling the play-by-play during the approaching season.

Greg Halbleib joins the Blaze as the team's director of media relations and will serve as the team's broadcaster. Halbleib has served as Bloomington professional hockey's voice for the past three seasons, and adds media relations and communications duties in his role with the Blaze.

The native of McNabb, Illinois enters his 33rd year in sports broadcasting. He has served as the broadcaster for Bloomington Extreme indoor football for the team's first five seasons, and handles play-by-play and gameday media relations for the Normal CornBelters baseball club. He has been with Blaze flagship station WJBC since 2002, handling a variety of Illinois State, Illinois Wesleyan and high school sports broadcasts. This is his 20th season calling Illinois State University volleyball, and his 16th season as the television voice of Missouri Valley Conference volleyball. He was named United Indoor Football's Broadcaster of the Year twice, and was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame as a member of the media in 2009.

All Blaze games during the 2011-2012 season can be heard live on WJBC.com. Fans may also subscribe to a video feed that will contain the Blaze broadcast through the Central Hockey League web site, www.centralhockeyleague.com.

Blazing Notes

The Blaze conclude training camp with two pre-season games this weekend. The Blaze will play in Moline, Illinois at the i-wireless center against the Missouri Mavericks on Saturday, October 15th @ 7:00pm and at home against the Evansville IceMen on Sunday, October 16th @ 3:00pm at U.S.Cellular Coliseum. Tickets for the Blaze home pre-season game will be $5.00 and will be general admission.

The new Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, will be playing in the 14-team Central Hockey League. Bloomington will be in the league's Turner (Northern) Conference along with the Fort Wayne Komets, Dayton Gems, Quad City Mallards, Missouri Mavericks, Rapid City Rush, and Evansville IceMen.

2011-2012 tickets are now on sale by calling the Blaze office at 309-434-2980. Offices are located inside the U.S. Cellular Coliseum, located at 101 S. Madison Street in downtown Bloomington.
