Gaining Independence: The Blaze split weekend contests in suburban Kansas City with the Missouri Mavericks as the brief Blaze record book received new single-game entries after Friday night's win. The Blaze's 7-0 victory recorded 1) the most Blaze goals, 2) the largest winning margin and 3) the first-ever shutout win. Pier-Olivier Pelletier registered the historic shutout with 36 saves, while Tyler Gron recorded his first professional hat trick and Jesse Dudas scored twice. It was also the first time the Blaze won in Missouri after dropping both contests in Independence last season.

Extra-special teams: Tuesday's meeting at U.S. Cellular Coliseum pits the best power play against the top penalty killers in the CHL. The Blaze are 14-of-44 on the power play for a league-best 31.8 percent, while the Allen Americans have allowed only 5-of-48 on the PK to kill 89.6 percent of their penalties. The Amerks power play is 15-of-54 for 27.8 percent, good for second behind the Blaze.

Dudas doing it: Jesse Dudas hammered two goals on Friday to increase his team lead to eight, which leads all Central Hockey League defensemen. Dudas is tied for the scoring lead among blue-liners with Allen's Brett Skinner with 14 points, and is tied for seventh overall. Dudas is on a seven-game point streak, registering a point in every Blaze game except the second contest of the season.

Streaking: The seven-game point streak by Jesse Dudas is the longest current Blaze streak. His six-game goal-scoring streak ended Saturday. David Gilbert is on a six-game point streak while Tyler Gron has put up a five-game run.

Blaze anatomy: The Blaze activated defenseman Tysen Dowzak from the 14-day injured reserve list before the weekend's games and placed defenseman Michael Trebish on the 7-day IR.

Junior Blaze update : The Junior Blaze took last weekend off before heading to Holland, Michigan this weekend for three games. The Junior Blaze return home for games on Friday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend against the Soo Firehawks. The Junior Blaze are 7-4-0.
