Green Bay Blizzard News Release
Green Bay, WI: The Green Bay Blizzard of the Indoor Football League announces that Head Coach Rik Richards will not return for the 2012 season. Richards has decided to pursue other opportunities.
Richards coached in Green Bay the last two seasons. In 2010 he guided the Blizzard to a 10-4 record and a division title. This season, the Blizzard went 11-3 and won their second division title under Richards. He led the team to the United Conference championship game before falling to eventual IFL champion Sioux Falls.
"Rik had two great seasons here and was a major reason why we were named the IFL Franchise of the Year in 2011," Blizzard Chief Operating Officer Art Clarkson said. "Personally, I think he would have a great future in the NFL as a scout and recruiter. As an organization, we wish him well."
Clarkson also stated that the team expects to name a new head coach within the next two weeks.
The Blizzard has also announced that the 2012 IFL schedule will be released on Monday.
